TIXstream FX provides easy, fast and secure file exchange. It can be used with any up-to-date web browser. Especially for large data transfers, additionally using TIXstream Express Client (TXEC) is highly recommended.
In TIXstream FX, files are organized as jobs to upload and download files. After logging in, you will see your current FX Jobs. These were created by you or other users. Here you can also create new jobs.
Please note that, depending on system configuration as well as properties and state of an FX job, not all functionality described here may be available.
Menu
Following functions are available in the burger menu next to your e-mail address.
- Settings Configuration settings like toggling Express mode.
- User Profile User data and token management.
- Help Information about using TIXstream FX.
- Support Technical support contact information.
- Logout Log out from TIXstream FX session.
Jobs
You can toggle between Jobs and Templates view. Both views contain similar functionality. You can use templates to simplify the creation of jobs with the same or similar parameters.
Templates
Templates provided by your administration are also shown here. These can be used but not modified.
If you create a template named default, it will be used for creating new jobs.
Job List
After logging in, you get a list of your current FX jobs. Selecting a job in this list takes you to the detailed job view.
creates a new FX job for uploading files by yourself or other users. For details see create jobs.
Job View
Selecting an FX job takes you to a detailed job view containing the following sections.- A compact overview of your FX jobs allowing you to easily switch between them (visibility depends on windows size).
- The file list of the selected job.
- Parameters like title, description, reference, meta data and shares.
Click on the icon at the top left to get back to Jobs.
Files
- reloads the current file list.
- creates a new folder in this job.
- downloads and uploads files either with TXEC (Express Mode turned on) or via web browser.
- is used to indicate that you are done with this job, i.e. that you do not want to modify any data anymore. Once locked, content is passed to targets for further processing after all uploads are finished.
Note: Express Mode is not available on all platforms.
File Transfer
To access files with your iPhone/iPad in Safari, please enter iOS Settings, go to Safari — General and deactivate Block Pop-ups.
During upload, do not leave mobile Safari, i.e. do not change the application. Please consider installing the TIXstream Express App.
Please note that longer running uploads of larger files can lead to unrecoverable interrupts since the mobile operating system may suspend execution of the browser process. If possible, please use your laptop for uploading for such files.
You can transfer files either with the web browser or accelerated with the free TIXstream Express client (TXE Client) for MS Windows and macOS.
Especially for large files using TXEC is strongly recommended. Besides higher transfer rates this also allows to recover interrupted transfers.
Critical Characters
Using certain characters for file and folder names may cause issues when exchanging files between Windows, macOS and Linux systems. Even if many symbols are supported by TIXstream FX they can lead to failures in further processing on connected systems.
Please avoid using special characters in file and folder names. Especially the following characters should not be used.
- ! " # $ % & ' * + , / : ; < = > ? \ ^ ` |
- . at the beginning or end
- spaces, especially at the beginning and at the end
- 3- and 4-byte characters like emoticons
- Diacritical symbols like umlauts, especially since these are encoded differently in macOS (NFD/NFC)
- Invisible and control characters
Editing Jobs
You may view, edit or add various parameters of the current FX job:
- Details like title, reference, description
- Shared with access (shares) for other users.
- Targets targets for forwarding of assets after job has been locked.
- Relay jobs Transfers of assets to connected MFT systems after job has been locked.
- Metadata upload, download, show/edit and delete metadata.
- Properties technical information and parameters for this job.
To add or edit items, click on the corresponding heading or use the three-dot menu . Details see create job.
